PIPER CUB (PA18-100)
  • The Piper Cub was first produced in 1949 and is still in production today.
  • In New Zealand the Piper Cub was used as a pioneer in aerial topdressing, deer recovery and supply dropping in remote areas.
  • The two-seat tail wheel training aircraft has easy to fly stick controls and possesses gentle handling qualities. On landing the pilot has good forward visibility, unlike many other tail wheel aircraft
  • The Cub is on the most wanted list for pilots. The aircraft is a pleasure to fly and teaches you to fly by the seat of your pants – just like the early pioneers in aviation.
  • Learn to fly in the aircraft your grandfather did, learn the art of sideslipping and the piloting skills to set you in great stead for flying any aircraft you desire.
  • The engine manufactured by Rolls Royce, has 100 horsepower, and a fixed pitch propeller.
  • Cruise speed 80 knots (148 km/hr)

PIPER PACER (PA22/20-160)
  • The Tri-pacer (PA22) was first produced in 1950 as a nose-wheel aircraft. The Piper Pacer, (PA20 - the tail wheel version) was produced in 1949. Ace Aviation’s aircraft was built in 1960 as a tri-cycle but has been modified to tail wheel to give it the Piper Pacer designation.
  • The Pacer and Tri-Pacer were produced with a variety of engines producing various horsepower outputs. Our aircraft has the 160 hp Lycoming engine which gives a comfortable cruising speed of 105 knots (194 km/hr).
  • Has a seating capacity of four and is the next step up from the Piper Cub. It is a simple aircraft to fly after gaining a Private Licence as it still has a fixed pitch propeller, remaining uncomplicated for a new pilot to handle.
  • Our aircraft has a modern interior and panel installation, with a full panel of instruments including GPS, ADF, manifold pressure, EGT, a four place intercom and has modern Piper Cherokee control columns installed.

used in New Zealand as a work horse for various duties including agricultural topdressing, deer
recovery, floatplane and ski-plane scenic and charter operations.
  • The aircraft has seating for four, a 6-cylinder
    continental engine producing 230 horsepower
giving a good cruising speed of 130 knots, 240km/hr.

DE HAVILLAND CHIPMUNK (DHC-1)
  • Designed by the Canadian De Havilland Company, the tandem two-seat Chipmunk first flew in 1946 and was produced for both civil and military use.
  • Chipmunks are prized by their owners as an
aircraft with good handling characteristics, being very similar to that of a Spitfire.
  • The aircraft is a delight to fly and is a good
    aerobatic trainer.
  • The aircraft is powered by a 145 horsepower
De Havilland Gipsy Major 10, giving a cruising
    speed of 90 knots, 167 km/hr.
